The words "I AM" have long had a deep significance for me. Everything we do in this life hangs on how well we understand who we are. It's hard to see how true love can exist between two people unless they are commited to understanding not only who they themselves are, but who their lover is beneath all of their brokeness. Sadly I do not see this happen very often. Still, when it does, I think love become something truly spiritual... an expression of the Gods love.

I wrote this song for a friend of mine who fell in love just when she needed it most, with a guy who was very good for her.

As I Am

You know life can be a long hard ride
Just trying to make it to the other side
I just try to steer a course that's wide
Around the ones that drag me down
All the hurting careless lovers do
Malefactors who just prey on you
Parasites and all they put you through
They'd steal your soul to fill their crown

But the darkness holds no power over me
It's a long way down to where I used to be
I ride the winds of change on the wings of love
Look down on the past from high above
'Cause I love the girl who loves me just as I am

You know she loves me like love's something new
She's someone I can't wait to come home to
I tell her everything I'm going through
Because I know she'll understand
And then she loves me with such tenderness
That it makes up for all the love I've missed
Confesses love to me with every kiss
So much grace at her command
